I need this get-a-way. If you too are politically and economically exhausted and need a little respite, just click on the link above and mention my name at the ticket counter. See you in Peru and then old Bombay... where we'll both have some exotic booze :- ) Frank and Ava will meet us there.

A Very New and Different President

Due to non-stop / wall-to-wall media coverage, I will not beleaguer this momentous event. Yes, I said momentous. The election of our first black President truly is momentous. And, I pray that he serves our nation well.

I do not care that he is black... although I am greatly troubled by the fact that he never properly proved he was born on American soil (as is the requirement to be President) and/or disprove that he was born in Kenya Africa, as his paternal grandmother and two half siblings still claim.

I do not care that he is a Democrat (D)... although I am deeply concerned that he is extremely "liberal" and will institute massive liberal-socialist spending and levy new taxes to pay for it all.

I do not care that he is young (only 48 years old) ... although I do care that he only had a few months of service in the U.S. Senate before he started running for President.

Lastly, because you have to be careful what you wish for... and who you vote for... I leave you to ponder these words:

"The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost duty to revive in the nation a spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our national morality, and the family as the basis of national life."

The name of the man who spoke these words is posted at the bottom of my list of "Hillman's Personal Quotes". (Scroll down.)
